Almost forgot...

I have too much work to do today to put much effort into this one... here is my weekly update, as promised. It's really quite beautiful and thankfully not quite as challenging as I was expecting, thanks to my Thread Heaven... pretty huh?
Nothing much else interesting to share except to say a big thank-you to anyone else in the needlearts community that shares our excitement about the move downtown. The support has been overwhelming!

Happy Dancing #4 and #5 for 2008

As promised I can now show you my 4th finish for 2008. It was well received from my best girlfriend and I am very glad she likes it. It was a wonderful wedding, we had a blast!

Elizabeth's Designs - Home Sweet Home

Next HD #5 for 2008 is a 'blackwork' piece I picked up a month ago, they are always quick to stitch up with amazing results. It's a bit smaller than I thought it would be but I am very happy with it.

Stitch'Inspiration - Sister's Choice
A new start... Dessin's DHC does a line of patterns called 'Words Around A Theme', this is Stitching Scissors... eventually it will be in the shape of a pair of scissors (duh) those ones that have a pelican on them? I am doing it over one on 28ct black Lugana with 1/2 a strand of DMC Rayon in a light gray shade. Yes, a half strand... if you play with a strand of rayon floss it will separate into 2 tiny strands. One whole strand was just too thick. Teeny tiny stitches but it's coming along quickly and it will be gorgeous I am sure if I don't go blind first. Inside are words related to the theme, by the time I am posting this pic I can already see the word THREAD, you can see the H. I am making the most out of my staff discount, wouldn't you say?
Yesterday I didn't get much stitching done, my work team was all summoned to view the new shop location and I have to say, I am IMPRESSED. It is really truly gorgeous with big bright windows, not as small as I thought it would be and it was easy as pie to get to. Just after the morning rush hour I got a parking spot at the door NO PROBLEM. It only cost me $2.50 to park for the hour. Downtown! That isn't too bad at all when you consider other major cities. Seeing it made a huge difference to me... I am sure there are going to be people that see a move downtown as being an 'upgrade' and more expensive but really, it's half the rent we are paying now because WE pay for parking! Support your LNS! We can't survive without your support! I for one am going to enjoy working downtown again. I hope customers give the new location a chance and see it for themselves.
Have a great day, I have to go get ready for work! I'll try to get back online one night this week and post wedding pictures and shop news

First Tag: 7 things

I have been 'tagged' by Dani and she knows I have no-one to tag back! I'll do it anyways, for her.

1. Once you are tagged, link back to the person who tagged you.
2. Post THE RULES on your blog.
3. Post 7 weird or random facts about yourself on your blog.
4. Tag 7 people and link to them.
5. Comment on their blog to let them know they have been tagged.

This was tougher that I thought it would be... I think I'll do random facts. I wouldn't want my weirdness to permeate the 'net :)

I cannot mix meats with sweets. Mint jelly on lamb!? Apple sauce and pork chops?! Gross! Don't get me started on apple pie and cheese... *shudder*

I enjoy spending time with my hubby, he really is my best friend.

I've always wanted to be able to fix my own car. I like understanding how stuff works.

My last career I was a horticulturalist (aka landscaper).

I worked construction one summer when I was in my 20's. I was a drywaller.

In case you couldn't tell from the blog, I like pink and I am as girlie as they come, on the inside though. It's a secret.

If I was one of the seven dwarfs, who would I be? Most definitely Bashful. Definitely.

Happy Dancing Sorta

Edited to add: photo credit titles!
I am not kidding, I have another HD today, I just can't show it to you yet! It's for my BFF who is getting remarried this weekend (renewing not exchanging husbands!) and until it's given away my lips are sealed (I think she reads this sometimes). It's a cutie though...

Instead, I post an old HD. I am pretty sure this one never got mentioned so it really is new for you. I am going to get started on it's companion piece (Moon). They will nestle in quite nicely to those little spots on 'The Wall' just below my Christmas Elegance. Here is Sun Needle Roll by M Designs, which will be framed because I screwed up the finishing instructions for making it into a needleroll! It's quite small actually but gorgeous colours...

M Designs - Sun Needleroll And 'The Wall' now that Flosstitute is home...Speaking of which, here is Flosstitute stretched by me and framed at work. I am quite pleased with myself but I see it's not pulled tight enough...

Glitter Gulch Needlework - Flosstitute Up next I have a WIP pic of my latest start, Sister's Choice by StitchInspiration. The photo is too dark but next time I will work harder at getting you a better one. This fabric is actually 28ct Ice Blue Lugana it's hard to tell though...

And because a post by me would not be the same without 5000 photos, here are the lovely Valentine flowers I received, from Spaz. Stargazer Lillies and Red Roses. The whole livingroom area smells delicious now.
PS: It would seems I have been tagged by Dani but I am not sure what to do with it just yet. Maybe tomorrow! Have a happy Monday.

Happy Dancing #3 for 2008

I finished my Dragonfly Happiness #1. As usual, pictures don't do this stuff justice...

Tada!

I was 'enabled' at work a couple or weeks ago by a co-worker (evil girl!)... she knows I have a soft spot for blackwork (not traditional blackwork but backstitching blackwork lol) and pulled a pattern I have seen a dozen times off the shelf. Then she threw down the floss with a flourish all the while knowing full well I had never really looked closely at what the designer called for. Imagine 3 different skeins of DMC Variations used! She knew I would love it. A quick walk to the fabric wall and I spotted the Ice Blue 28ct Lugana, just waiting to be cut. This ought to keep me occupied until I start Dragonfly #2, dontcha think?

Sisters Choice by Stitchin'Spiration.

Anyways, enough stitching news for now. I'm off to clean house and then myself before I start anything else. I am at the end of a LONG 3 weeks of work, work and more work and I can't wait for the run to be over even though I know for a fact it's not over by a long shot. We are moving the shop to a new location pretty soon and the overtime is going to be rough. Do you hear the words "Moving Sale"?!? To top it all off my BFF and her hubby are renewing their wedding vows next weekend (I was asked to work and I said absolutely not no way no how!) and I haven't had time or the energy to even help with the event. I feel terrible and hope she knows? Hun? You there reading this? I am sorry and can't wait to see you!

Have a great weekend everyone. Keep that Valentine's Day spirit alive a few days more please ;)

WIP Update

I think these update pics are going to be a weekly thing, I just don't have the energy to post every day. Stressed. If only I could sit and stitch all day like I did today (Mondays being my day off).

I am trying to speed up the work on this, hopefully I'll get to a point where I could join Dani's Snowbird SAL. I am really appreciating the way the colours flow, if only I was sure I wouldn't run out of these variegated silks!
I am also making good progress on my Dragonfly #1, even though I did take a break from stitching it on this nice Platinum fabric to do a test spot on 3-thread silk gauze. I need to do a bit more testing before I can be sure it would work but I remain optimistic. I'll show you that picture next week.

PS - Only 3 nights until another episode of LOST!

Another Saturday

I am at work, again, on a Saturday. I really don't mind except that today I had to get up an hour early to dig out my car from the avalanche of snow that fell yesterday. It wasn't too bad, with a push from my hubby I did get out of the parking lot...
I am depressed. LOST was an hour long, but it's the shortest hour of television EVER. Thank-god there are 7 more episodes this season, I am getting sick of watching other crap.

I am not making any good progress on any stitching, I rip as much as I get done these days. My reputation as a 'power stitcher' make come under dispute if this keeps up.
I have to go open the shop. I am the only one here so far!
Happy stitching...
